ABOUT THE EVENT
We are extremely excited to announce that we have organised a fun Summer Singing Event
exclusive for West End Musical Choir singers!
Now that the UK government restrictions are lifting, we're able to be reunited physically,
to continue creating the magic of singing in a Choir, as well as supporting the theatre industry.
We've so missed singing with you at our physical rehearsals & it will be quite an emotional day being able to hear everyone's voices blending together... oh the joy of choral singing!!
To adhere to the current government guidelines of professional indoor closed- rehearsals,
places will be limited & we'll be stringently enforcing a number of regulations, that can be found further down this webpage.
We will also be live streaming this event, for those who would like to join us virtually around the world!
Therefore we're offering both physical & virtual tickets.
Set at the iconic Bush Theatre in London, we will be working on all of the material from this Term, learning a beautiful brand new arrangement, having a special West End guest appearance (of which they will also sing with us!), plus a social afterward.
We require everyone to attend in their full performance attire
(Choir t-shirt or hoodie and all black. This includes black socks, shoes & shoelaces).
If you do not have access to your Choir t-shirt or hoodie due to lockdown, you must wear a blacktop.
Please note, if you are not in your full performance attire as detailed above, you cannot attend.

Special new song
'Someday' from Hunchback of Notre Dame
We will provide harmony tracks, lyric sheet & sheet music in advance.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a 1996 American animated musical drama film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation for Walt Disney Pictures. The 34th Disney animated feature film and the seventh animated film produced and released during the period known as the Disney Renaissance, the film is based on the 1831 novel of the same name written by Victor Hugo. The plot centers on Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame, and his struggle to gain acceptance into society. Directed by Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale and produced by Don Hahn, the film's voice cast features Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Tony Jay, Kevin Kline, Paul Kandel, Jason Alexander, Charles Kimbrough, David Ogden Stiers, and Mary Wickes in her final film role.
The film is considered to be one of Disney's darkest animated films as its narrative explores such mature themes as infanticide, lust, damnation, genocide, and sin, despite the changes made from the original source material in order to ensure a G rating received by the MPAA. The musical score was written by Alan Menken, with songs written by Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who had previously collaborated on Pocahontas, released the year before.
"Someday" is a song from Disney's 1996 animated feature film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz and originally recorded by American singer and actress Heidi Mollenhauer in her film role as the singing voice of Esmeralda. It was one of three recordings, along with "In a Place of Miracles" and "As Long as There's a Moon", that were discarded during the storyboarding process to be replaced by "God Help the Outcasts." The directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise both desired a quieter song for Esmeralda's scene inside the Notre Dame cathedral.
Within the film itself, the only complete version of "Someday" is the All-4-One version which plays over the closing credits. Several lines of the song are also heard over the opening title. This version is sung in Latin in the style of a Gregorian chant and is titled "Olim", meaning "once", on the soundtrack of the stage musical. Within the body of the film, the melody of "Someday" is heard several times as an instrumental, particularly during moments between Quasimodo and Esmeralda, such as when Esmeralda comes onto the pillory, when she reads Quasimodo's palms, and when Quasimodo thinks that Esmeralda is dead. These are on the film soundtrack as "Humiliation (Score)", "The Bell Tower (Score)", and "And He Shall Smite the Wicked (Score)".
What role do songs play in a musical?
Songs have a dramatic function that are an integral part of the storytelling: They help to develop character and/or move the action of the plot forward. In musicals, it is a general rule that characters break into song when the emotional stakes have become so high that ordinary speech fails them. Through their songs, the characters can reveal their innermost thoughts, fears, hopes & dreams, grapple with difficult decisions & come to important realisations about themselves. Musical theatre lyrics use many poetic devises, including rhythm, rhyme, repetition, figurative language, symbolism & metaphor.
Special West End Guest
We're thrilled that a West End star will be making a special appearance at this Event... and may even join us for a sing-song.... watch this space for the announcement of who it is!
